What Is The Paleo Diet And Is It Gluten-Free?
Have you ever wondered how you can maintain your overall health in spite of the disease that is causing you to be gluten intolerant? This is a serious problem and I sometimes worry about it myself. I think that I’ve found something that can help.
Over the last year or so, I’ve noticed that there is increasing interest in the Paleo Diet around the world. It seems to me that it is a valid dietary choice which many people are embracing because of the benefits they attribute to the diet.
Its popularity began in the 1970s and has grown as more and more people have discovered the benefits of this highly nutritional diet.
I’ve wondered about it often and have now overcome my personal inertia and did something about my curiosity. I liked what I found. And, because of that, I’ve become very interested in it myself since it is, by definition, gluten-free! It contains no grains… Period!
Plus we will be adding a sub-menu as well as a category for Paleo information on the Elegantly, Gluten-Free website.

Gingerbread and My Holiday Wishes for You
Sweet and spicy, tender and springy gingerbread …it’s a traditional recipe for any time of the year. But, if you dress it up a little with some decorator’s red sugar, it takes on a more festive air. This gluten-free recipe is easy to make and frugal, too, but it also is wonderful for serving your family and your guests.

Spiced Cranberry Pear Sauce Completes the Holiday Dinner
When I lay out a plan to seat my guests at a dinner, I want to balance the personalities at each table. I want each group to have some who are gentle and mature, some who are a little outspoken and some who maybe are energetic with a few good stories to share. Similarly, when I’m looking for a completing touch to a gluten-free holiday menu, I can add this tangy, saucy, sweet and spicy choice that is already gluten-free — Spiced Cranberry Pear Sauce.

Pennsylvania Dutch Apple Tart with Gluten-Free Pie Crust
My husband Al loves apple pie!
His mother made apple pie for him for as long as he can remember.
She would often make a single-crust pie with the apples cut in halves and sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon, then dotted with tiny clumps butter that would melt and flow through the whole pie while it baked in the oven. I remember her pies’ wonderful aroma, texture, and flavor from BGF (Before Gluten-Free) days. I and everyone else in the family absolutely loved her wonderful creations!
My mother-in-law, Mary, sure knew how to bake a pie that vanished and this recipe is no exception. I is a family tradition … Mary called it a Pennsylvania Dutch Apple Tart… and the secret …
