Gluten-Free Garlic Cheese French Bread Bites

A simple gluten-free baguette, a little garlic salt and some cheese are so easy to transform into an ever-popular snack – I could make these Gluten-Free Garlic Cheese French Bread Bites every few days in my house.  They’re more popular than popcorn!

All I need to do is slice a simple loaf of gluten-free French bread – the baguette is easiest, since it’s finger food-size, but any French bread will do. Then spread with a little cheese and some other toppings, put in the oven for a few minutes and it somehow transforms itself into a gluten-free appetizer that is sure to please the whole family!

These make great after-school snacks for kids, popular appetizers for get-togethers or football parties and I’ve also found them to be quick fillers to serve to my husband, Al, when dinner is late.

I hope you like them, too!

They are this simple to make:

Gluten-Free Garlic Cheese French Bread Bites

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 25 minutes

  • 1 Baguette, or your favorite French Bread (day-old is best)
  • Garlic Salt to taste
  • 2 Cups Cheddar Cheese, Shredded, or more
  • Tomato, Chopped, to taste
  • Olives, Sliced, to taste

Preheat oven to 425°F.

Slice the bread thinly cross-wise and spread them on a baking sheet, not touching.

Bake for about 5 minutes or until starting to turn golden. Turn over and bake a few more minutes so that both sides are toasted.

Sprinkle with shredded cheese and garlic salt. Arrange tomato and olives evenly.

Return to oven for a few minutes, just until cheese is melted.

This frugal gluten-free recipe is nut-free, and it’s easily ready in less time than a 30 minute meal.
