Pennsylvania Dutch Apple Tart with Gluten-Free Pie Crust

My husband Al loves apple pie!

His mother made apple pie for him for as long as he can remember.

She would often make a single-crust pie with the apples cut in halves and sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon, then dotted with tiny clumps butter that would melt and flow through the whole pie while it baked in the oven. My mother-in-law, Mary, sure knew how to bake a pie that vanished and this recipe is no exception. I is a family tradition … Mary called it a Pennsylvania Dutch Apple Tart… and the secret …

Floride Pamplemousses, Sucré, à la Jami

For those who don’t speak French, I’m remembering a family friend who just turned 20 a few weeks ago and who gave my husband, Al, what I think is a great idea. A loose translation of the title might be “Florida Grapefruit, Sweetened, by Jami.” Here’s the story…

Anyway, while at church, Al saw our friend Jami standing in the foyer with a grapefruit in her hand, eating it like an orange… or something that wasn’t sour, so, naturally, she immediately caught his attention. To put it succinctly… He was horrified!

If you know Al, you would also know that in addition to being the…

Easy Banana Bread Recipe

This easy banana bread recipe has been a favorite of ours for a long time. We like it every season of the year, and we especially like to have some for gluten-free snacks.

It tastes good alone, but it also is great with a flavored spread like apple butter or pumpkin cream. If I cut regular slices from the loaf like you see in the picture, they are so good to eat plain that we often don’t even think of adding something to them before the whole loaf is gone…especially if I leave it where my husband can see it.
